The definition of culture shock is” A condition of confusion and anxiety affecting a person suddenly exposed to an alien culture or milieu.”(free dictionary). Every foreigner could meet the culture shock. However, for me, I didn’t feel very strong. I will explain the reasons in the next paragraph.
First of all, I grew up in a historical city and my flat was near a national park which was built by the ruin of Zhou Dynasty. In every year, when peony was blooming, a lot of foreign tourists came to my hometown and enjoyed the beautiful flowers. In that time, my parents always took me to the park and because my dad could speak English, he could talk with the foreigners. I could feel the friendly and passionately in that atmosphere. As a result, I thought that culture shock was not important, people just wanted to know the different cultures.
Secondly, in this year, I came to UK for studying the postgraduate course. The new culture and new world in this wonderful country brought a refreshing energy to me. I could not feel the culture shock. nearby me. However, I felt the polite distance between British people. Sometimes the beautiful views made me comfortable.
In the end, I want to tell everybody. Culture shock depends on people themselves. If we prepare to go to other culture, the books about this culture would help people to solve this problem.
